Archive Futures: Manuscripts, Materiality, Method
BIBLIOTHÈQUE ET ARCHIVES NATIONALES DU QUÉBEC, MONTRÉAL.
21 June 2013
This invitational workshop was the first meeting of the Network and served as a catalyst event with the primary aim of laying the foundations for a substantial new framework for international research collaboration.
The workshop took as its starting point, the following series of questions:
- How do transformations to the archive demand reconceptualizations of materiality and matter?
- Do different modes of material embodiment produce different objects of study and demand new methodological approaches?
- If material literacy has remained under-developed in terms of engagements with analog sources, can the complexities of materiality and matter in the digital environment now help to refine and strengthen our methodological approaches?
The day was organised into discussion around ‘Material Transformations’ and ‘Research Futures’.
